Rheumatology

Advanced Treatment of Musculoskeletal Diseases

Rheumatology is the subspecialty of medicine devoted to the diagnosis and non-operative treatment of diseases that affect muscles, ligaments, tendons, joints, bones and other body parts including the immune system. At Ortho Illinois, we have physicians who are specially trained to treat musculoskeletal pain, arthritis, osteoporosis, and auto-immune diseases, including Rheumatoid Arthritis and Lupus. Depending on the patient’s condition, our specialists may recommend physical therapy and joint and muscle exercises to improve strength and flexibility, weight management to relieve stress on weight-bearing joints, anti-inflammatory drugs for degenerative joint disorders, heat/cold therapies, synovectomy (surgical removal of inflamed synovial tissue), osteotomy (restructuring of the bones to shift stresses from diseased tissue to more healthy tissue), and partial or total joint replacement.

For patients undergoing infusion therapies for treatment of arthritic conditions or osteoporosis Ortho Illinois offers the convenience of an on-site Infusion Center at its Riverside clinic location.

Osteoporosis

Once considered an inevitable part of the aging process, osteoporosis is now recognized as a treatable condition. The physicians and healthcare providers at Ortho Illinois have extensive experience and expertise in osteoporosis assessment, prevention, and treatment. Diagnosis can be made and treatment monitored through the convenience of an on-site Dual-energy X-ray Absorptiometry (DEXA) machine.
