Michael Harvey, MD
Dr. Harvey’s practice at OrthoIllinois focuses on hip and knee replacement, including partial, total, and complex revision hip and knee surgery. He has a special interest in outpatient surgery, minimally invasive surgical techniques, and rapid recovery protocols that improve his patient’s outcomes and surgical experience. Cutting-edge and advanced techniques including; anterior total hip replacement with navigation, robotically assisted total hip and total knee replacement, tourniquet-less total knee replacements, and patient specific customized implants allow his patients to regain function quickly.
Dr. Harvey received specialized fellowship training for hip and knee replacement at the prestigious Harvard University Medical School, Massachusetts General Hospital, which is consistently one of the top ranked hospitals in the nation. While at Harvard, Dr. Harvey trained under some of the most prominent minds and innovative surgeons in the field. He was extensively involved in their research program, which is currently the largest hospital-based research program in the world. Before fellowship he completed orthopaedic residency at the University of Missouri in Kansas City, where he received multiple awards for highest in-training examination score and most outstanding resident.
Dr. Harvey is dedicated to advancing the field of orthopaedics and total joint replacement surgery to improve techniques and patient outcomes. He has published numerous papers in peer-reviewed journals, written multiple book chapters, presented at national conferences, and continues to be productive academically in the field of joint reconstruction.
