New OrthoIllinois Scholarship Honors Memory of Former Employee
Rockford, Ill. (July 31, 2018) – OrthoIllinois, a leading bone and joint health care provider in northern Illinois, has created a scholarship in memory of Kelsea Anderson, a physical therapy assistant who passed away in January 2018.
The scholarship will benefit students enrolled in Blackhawk Technical College’s Physical Therapy Assistant Program in Janesville, Wisconsin. Anderson was from Milton, Wisconsin, graduated from Blackhawk and worked at OrthoIllinois in Rockford.
“She was a dedicated therapist and the epitome of a Blackhawk student,” said Heather Riley, an OrthoIllinois physical therapy assistant who worked with Anderson. “She had a love of life, learning and adventure and was a world-class Rock Aqua Jays ski team member.”
The $2,000 scholarship will be awarded to one student annually starting in spring 2020. This year, it will be split between two students, with $1,000 being distributed in the fall and $1,000 being awarded in spring 2019.
To be eligible, individuals must be second-year physical therapy assistant students at Blackhawk; maintaining a minimum 3.5 GPA; have attended, are attending or plan to attend a clinical rotation at OrthoIllinois; and have a passion for learning, commitment to patient care, dedication to the profession, and a strong work ethic.
Students interested in the scholarship should contact Blackhawk Technical College at 608-758-6900 or at info@blackhawk.edu.
